What are your criteria when you are out shopping for the so called best eye serum on the market to-day? Perhaps you may be swayed by the packaging, the colors of the jar, the price tag, the celebrity testimonials or simply because a friend has told you that this was easily the best!
My first criteria is to see if ALL the ingredients will stand up to the safe and effective test. Let me give you an example.
Recently the so called best eye serum has won accolades left, right and centre and has been getting a lot of hype. But when I looked at all the ingredients I found the main one is called Argireline which is made from Acetyl Hexapeptide-3. Now this is a controversial one because it is used in concentrations of 10%.
As you will see there are very good reasons for this as this stops the release of brain transmitters which cause us to make facial muscular movements. The fewer muscular contractions in the face, the fewer wrinkles. Sounds a bit scary and it is!
No long term studies have been done and also, if more than 10% is used, facial sagging has been observed in some patients. Well, I for one, am not going to use a muscle relaxant like that which has not been properly tested. The only tests that have been done have been carried out by the company making this ingredient. Enough said!
My second criteria then will be to look out for known ingredients which actually work on the eye area and which can actually improve circulation there. That is a sure indication that it could be the best eye serum. Let me tell you about one of these ingredients.
This one is called Haloxyl. It is a peptide made from a chain of amino acids. This actually increases circulation under the eyes and that means a much more efficient drainage system and the problems of leaking and the resulting discoloration are reduced. There is also a reversal of fluid build up too. That is especially important because when we sleep, our eyelids tend to swell up and puffy eyes in the morning are the rather nasty surprise when we wake up. This ingredient has done really well on clinical trials and has improved lymphatic drainage in the eye area by as much as 85%
My third criteria is to look for a decent guarantee. The guarantee speaks volumes and the bad news is that most companies only offer a ONE month guarantee. That is hardly sufficient to see whether the product may be allergenic or not. Whereas the serious companies who will really stand by their product will offer a guarantee of up to six months.
These then are the criteria I use before I buy any product such as the best eye serum and which will give me the results I want. I have prepared more information about the whole area of safety in skincare. Why not click through and see for yourself.
